Cardiff awarded White Ribbon status as City commits to end violence against women

Cardiff Council in partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan has recently received the Regional White Ribbon Award for its commitment to end violence against women.

The presentation by Chris Green OBE, founder of White Ribbon UK, took place at the first Cardiff and Vale Regional White Ribbon Ambassador Event and demonstrates the significant work undertaken by staff and partner agencies to eradicate Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence across the region.

The award was achieved based on the strength of the Regional White Ribbon Action plan that was developed collaboratively with White Ribbon Ambassadors from across the Region.

As part of the White Ribbon Campaign, the annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes will take place on Friday 28th September. Last year the partnership project between the Council, Cadwyn Housing Association and the Vale of Glamorgan Council saw record numbers of men turn out to walk a mile from Cardiff Castle through the city centre wearing women’s shoes. The event aims to raise awareness of White Ribbon and encourage conversation. To register your interest in this year’s event please go
