The Welsh Government want your views on proposals to implement a new curriculum for children in Wales. The Welsh Government want to make education in Wales the best it can be and by changing the way children do assessments.
Many people feel the curriculum now is too strict and teachers are not able to change what or how they teach to suit learners. Some parts of the curriculum were written in 1988.
Plans for the new curriculum include looking at:
🗸The purpose and structure of the curriculum
🗸The Welsh and English languages
🗸Relationships & Sexuality Education for 3 to 16-year-olds
🗸Religious Education for 3 to 16-year-olds
🗸Right to withdraw from RE and RSE
🗸The assessment of learners.
In April 2019 everyone will be able to read the new curriculum and the plan for assessments. The new curriculum will be ready from January 2020, with it being introduced to different year groups from September 2022, and to all children by 2026.
